The Premier League have taken the first steps towards allowing fans back into the stadium as the league prepares to restart next week behind closed doors.Official discussions between the Premier League bosses and the government are now under way to plan for the return of supporters to the stadiums around the UK.
Medical experts were also present for the talks, to discuss the feasibility of fans being safe on a match day, according to the Mirror – with the Premier League's return just days away on June 17.
There have been some positive steps over in Spain, with LaLiga president Javier Tebas hoping that they can fill '10 to 15 per cent' of stadiums before the current 2019/20 season concludes.
The Spanish season returned to action on Thursday night, as Sevilla beat Real Betis 2-0 in the first competitive football match in the country since the coronavirus pandemic.
Whilst Spain's progression could make fans returning seem more possible for the Premier League, it is much more unlikely any fans will be entering stadiums this season given how far behind the UK is from Spain in regards to cases of covid-19.
However, the fact talks are under way for the return of spectators means there is much less chance of fans having to wait until 2021 to buy a ticket and watch their team.
