Frank lampard heaps
*"It's been a really good start" – Frank Lampard heaps praise over Edouard Mendy ahead of UCL clash against Rennes.*

Chelsea's manager, Frank Lampard has given credit to Edouard Mendy following his impressive display in a couple of matches while in goal for the London outfit.

The French-born Senegalese international joined Chelsea from the Ligue-1 side Rennes in a £24 million deal, upon the English club's loss of patience with stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga, after a series of errors.

The 28-year-old Mendy has been in fine form since his arrival at West London. He aced Spanish keeper Arrizabalaga out of the No 1spot in Chelsea. Subsequently, he beat Petr Cech longstanding record as he clinched 5 clean sheets (4 in a row) and  conceded just once to prove his competence in goal.

In light of his sterling qualities, Frank Lampard believes Edouard Mendy has given Chelsea the security they needed in goal.

Chelsea's boss has this to say on Mendy:
"From the first game he’s come in, he’s played well. He’s shown his own security and that’s what we’re striving for. When we brought him in, it was clearly for competition and that’s right, and then it’s up to the players to show their own quality, and he’s shown them . . . ."

Wednesday night sees French team Rennes visits Stamford Bridge in a UEFA Champions League contest. The Blues boss added that 'it's a nice story' when Mendy takes on his former club.
". . .He’s settled in really quite well. He’s engaging, trains hard, wants to talk and make relationships with the players in front of him. It’s been a really good start and I’m pleased he’s playing his old team, I think it’s a nice story. . . ."

If the Senegalese star keeps the ball rolling in this convincing form, who knows how far Chelsea can go this season?.
