• Formula One teams are expected to vote in favour of a budget cap
  • It will be £120m next year and slide down to £110m from 2023 to 2026
  • Ferrari baulked at the idea of the restriction citing fears of redundancies
  • Alongside spending limits, there will also be a much more equitable prize fund

Formula One teams on Friday are expected to vote in favour of a compromise budget cap intended to secure the sport's sustainability and make racing more competitive.

Ferrari baulked at the idea of such a stringent restriction, claiming it would lead to redundancies, but the coronavirus emergency forced them to give ground to the likes of McLaren, who campaigned for even lower figures.
